March 2018 - Hermoine
We lost our young cat, Buster, to FIP so we only had Scarlett. Although we missed him very much, it ended up being harder having just one cat & we were ready to rescue a new friend a few months later. We went to Kitty Kind in the Union Square PetCo & found Hermione hiding at the back of her cage. She wouldn't come forward, but she appreciated being petted & was purring like crazy. Geoff fell in love with her & even though she was younger than we wanted (8 months), we decided to foster with intent to adopt (spoiler alert: we adopted her). She had been taken from a feral cat colony as a kitten, so she hid in the bathroom for a couple days, but was out & about pretty fast. It took some time for Scarlett & Hermione to find their footing around each other, & Hermione is certainly not friends with our newest cat, Zooey. When I'm home sick, Hermione curls up next to me in bed & purrs away. She chirps & chitters, "helps" with laundry & jumps up walls, & purrs more than any cat I've ever known.
